Where The Crawdads Sing Book Review

Reading Where The Crawdads Sing

Hey Babes in the Covers!

It’s Jennifer here, and today I am sharing a book that had been on my reading list for a while and I just finished reading it – Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Let me just say, this book did not disappoint!

Readability

Just a heads up, the first chapter is filled with intricate description of the setting. And I will admit, I reread several sentences throughout the first chapter to ensure my understanding of the setting. Once I read through the first chapter though, the reading took off quickly!

The Novel’s Story Line

Where the Crawdads Sing is a coming-of-age story about a young girl named Kya who grows up in the marshes of North Carolina. Abandoned by her family at a young age, Kya is forced to fend for herself and learns to live off the land. Kya is such a complex and fascinating character. Her resilience, courage and strength in the face of adversity is truly inspiring. The supporting characters are also well-developed and add much depth to the story.

Thoughts On Writing and Theme

Delia Owens’ writing is absolutely beautiful. She paints such a vivid picture of the marshes and the wildlife that inhabit them. Thus, creating the feeling like you’re right there with Kya. The way Delia weaves together Kya’s past and present is so seamless, and the plot twists kept me wanting to read more.

Where the Crawdads Sing is a powerful and moving novel that explores themes of love, loss, and the human connection to nature. It’s a story about survival and the importance of human connection. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good coming-of-age story or who is looking for a book that will stay with them long after they’ve finished reading.

My Overall Recommendation

Overall, I give Where the Crawdads Sing a 10/10. It’s a wonderfully written and captivating novel that I just couldn’t put down. Have you read Where the Crawdads Sing? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
