The New Addition To Our Little Family

Happy May Friends! Have you been enjoying the beautiful spring weather? The flowers have been so glorious to watch bloom. In my last post, I shared that there has been a few changes in our household. While most have been so exciting, there is one that saddens my heart to, firstly, have experienced, and secondly, to share.

As some of you know, we have two pups that have been apart of family for the last thirteen and twelve years. They both have their own unique personalities and hobbies, and are so cute. Well, back in early March, we unexpectedly had to say farewell to our thirteen year old chihuahua, Tyson Romeo due to an abrupt heart failure. It caught us all by surprise as we have been expecting this for a while with our twelve year old maltese, Cody Bug-A-Boo. Saying goodbye to Tyson was tough on us since we did not get much time spend with him in the end and we miss him dearly.

On a better note, Cody is doing well, considering all his health conditions. He is still obsessed with playing fetch, eating endless amounts of food, chewing on any bone he can find and getting lots of snuggles. He was quite confused about Tyson’s passing though, and did seem like he was in a slump about it. Honestly, we all were in a slump.

A little over a month later, my hubby wanted to find a way to pick us all up and to try to create our new normal. So what does he do? He begins looking at puppies to bring in some fresh energy for us all!

Puppy shopping. . . Spending time with sweet new puppies is so heart melting and precious. We looked at multiple litters of puppies over a few weeks, but none felt just right. . . That is until we met this cute ball of fluff!

How cute is this ball of fluff!!

Can you believe this pup has already had two different names since we have brought him home?!? I am excited to introduce you to Hudson Beau Pom Pom Le Créme!

Two names, you ask? Yup, two names. My daughter, Madison originally named him Pom Pom Le Créme. As the week went on, Madison continued to refer to him as a she, so I asked her if it would be helpful if she picked another name to remember he is a boy. Madison thought it would be good idea and she picked Hudson Beau, but wanted to keep his original name as his middle name.

Hudson Beau Pom Pom Le Créme is a playful pomeranian. And he is just what we needed to mix things up! Hudson has several character traits that remind us of Tyson, which is sentimental for us, as well as his own fun personality that shines through that is so very Hudson Beau Pom Pom Le Créme.

How is Cody adjusting to the new puppy, you’re wondering? Honestly, he really didn’t care for him in the beginning. All Hudson wanted to do was to be his shadow and try to play with him. Really though, Cody’s lack of excitement was not surprising for us as he is more of a play with people kind of dog and not a dog playing with other dogs kind of pup.

Through Cody’s disinterest in him, Hudson has learned to be very patient with him. Not just to get Cody’s attention, but to also pay attention to how Cody is feeling with his health concerns. Don’t get me wrong, Hudson still tries to play tag with him every day at some point and other games. But for a puppy he is doing an amazing job laying calmly next to Cody, waiting several steps away to let Cody finish eating his meals, and accompanying him during their outside time.

This fluff ball is the perfect breath of fresh energy that we needed.

On the flip side, Cody has softened and learned to accept Hudson as family. It may have taken a month, but Cody has begun waiting for Hudson after he walks outside at the door to explore together. He is soaking in the brief cuddling interactions with Hudson as he used to share with Tyson. And lastly, Cody loves to play fetch with Hudson watching to tease him. In truth, we hold Hudson back so Cody can actually get the ball because he’s a tad slower than Hudson these days. Hahaha. It keeps Cody’s confidence going and he loves it, plus, Hudson doesn’t mind.

Well, needless to say, these two pups have been keeping us quite busy. Especially, baby Hudson Beau Pom Pom Le Créme!
